Item #: 101652
Description: Bracelet, unsigned. Fabulous hinged cellulose acetate bangle, the top is hinged on two sides, to allow the buckle to open up, and the end of the bangle to be put through the buckle and be closed down. Scroll down, see picture of open bangle below. The ivory cellulose acetate wide band was originally color washed with an over dye of deep cranberry. This has faded over time, due to light and is much paler on the top than the bottom. The top is now a peachy-pink and the bottom is watermelon. You can see the fading by looking at the different views provided to the left and the bottom. The buckle is ivory and the top decoration is more of an eggshell, a bit more yellow tone, and has carved bands. Very interesting and unusual bangle, I've not ever come across one exactly like it. A great vintage plastic piece to add to your collection. Similar construction and style shown on page 39 of Plastic Jewelry of the 20th Century Updated by Karima Parry and Ginger Moro.
Size: 6 7/8", 2 3/8" wide at buckle, 1 1/2" band
Condition: Very good, fading of color is uneven due to age and different lighting over the years. Darker rectangle of color seen on inside is due to a price sticker shielding that area from light. Very slight crazing on the inside bottom.
Price: $176.00
