Jakob Bengel Bracelet

    Item #: lk325

Description: Although 75 years old, this German Art Deco jewelry has an incredibly modern esthetic and was produced by the Jakob Bengel company, one of the premier manufactures of Machine Age jewelry in the late 1920s and early 1930s. Yellow and black cold paint enamel technique over chromium-plated brass with the distinctive Bengel brickwork and nut and bolt end construction. Don't want to wear those colors on a particular day? Just turn the bracelet over and wear it as a monochrome bracelet. Although metal, this link and chain jewelry is actually very flexible and sensual with almost a silky cool feel. This unsigned bracelet, dates from the 1931 collection. Similar pieces referenced in Art Deco Schmuck Jewelry Jakob Bengel Idar-Oberstein by Christianne Weber, page 104. The creator of these Bauhaus influenced masterpieces had pretty much been a mystery until the Deutches Museum exhibit in Munich and Ms. Weber's book identified these pieces as German manufacture by the Bengel company.
