Description: Brooch, unsigned. Fabulous and rare vintage patriotic bakelite brooch c. 1940. Red, cream and blue bakelite bands are laminated with the large red band in the middle, then the smaller cream, then the smallest blue bands at the outer edges. Each band is carved with deep horizontal serrated grooves. The navy blue ends are not identical, I'm not sure why. There does not appear to be any alterations or replaced sections. But, the blue band on the right is wider and thicker than the one on the left. The carving is identical and the pieces have the same patina and are identical in color. Does not detract, you have to look twice to notice. The pin back is original and embedded, see lower left for a picture of the back.
