Description: A superb example of an Art Nouveau sash pin, originally meant to be worn at the waist in place of a buckle. Made of brass and shaped like a buckle with applied brass gryphon, flowers and leaves in a classic Art Nouveau motif. Sides of the pin are stamped in a flowing floral motif. Gryphon and flowers have etched fine detail. Set in the center is a large octangonal glass amethyst stone, a deep, intense purple. A wonderful piece, much more intricate than normally found in these types of sash pins.
