Item #: 100652
Description: Pendant, stamped with only a cross on the back. Very old, Victorian Italian micromosaic, a heart shaped pendant c.1880. The tessarae (tiles) form little flowers and leaves; small flowers with yellow centers clustered together in the middle of the heart, white flowers shade to blue on the lower half of the heart. A row of glass tile leaves are placed around the flowers, the leaves are green and yellow at the top half and shade to green and blue on the bottom half. Small white thin tiles outline the whole design. The tiles are set in a beaded brass heart frame. Gorgeous work, dozens of tiles. Similar designs shown in Warman's Jewelry by Christie Romero, the all new 3rd Edition, page 66. This particular piece was borrowed and shown pictured in Leigh Leshner's latest book Costume Jewelry, page 50, just released July 2004.
